I'm looking to buy an old muscle car that needs to be restored. I only have a few grand to spend so I need it cheap. I'm looking for old corvette Stingray, Charger, Camaro, chevelle, etc.

Andrew,
You have tons of options, but you have to be willing to have an open mind. Sometimes, you buy what's available. Other times, you hold out, keep saving money, and hope to buy exactly what you want. It's luck to find the right combination of low cost, and exactly what you want. Old Muscle Cars are like land...God ain't making it anymore, and with movies like FAST and FOOLISH, they're being destroyed as fast as they can be found and restored.
Try using the SEARCH TEMPEST link contained within our TECH SEARCH link under NET SEARCH. Search Tempest searches all of Craiglist at one time. Or you can go to Craigslist, go to a city, click on Cars+Trucks and just type in a year (1969) and all models of that year available locally will pop up. You can then branch out to surrounding cities.
You're starting off right by networking...talking with people with common interests will get you the unadvertised sale. You never know when someone is willing to cut loose of a car they've been sitting on.
FInally, you have to be realistic....an old Corvette Stingray for a couple grand isn't going to happen. Early 60's corvette bodies alone go for nearly $20k in good condition, so be willing to look at different cars that are overlooked. Use RACE N RIDE to see what others are doing with their rides. Also use the ONLINE MAGAZINES link to search the mags to see what people are doing around the country. Be patient, keep networking, and save money; being patient is the key.
Finally, as a RACE N RIDE member, you can go to the SWAP/ BUY/ SELL section and post a WTB (Want To Buy) ad for what you're looking for; maybe a member will see it and contact you.
Good Luck and visit often. Any time you have any questions, just email us at info@racenride.com
